theatre production
Through VIEW 2026, I want to develop my practice in producing through two lenses.
PRODUCING THEATRE
I would love to focus on ONE play specifically, working closely with a writer/director, or writer AND director. Being involved in casting decisions, logistics around scheduling the show, programming it as a wider festival, etc.
PRODUCING A FESTIVAL
As a producer on VIEW on the wider scale, I want to develop my management skills in terms of balancing relationships with a large team and lots of moving parts.
I’d love to have a variety of participatory events - installations, exhibitions, interactive experiences, learning + discussion opportunities, a chance to learn a new skill, collective meals + gatherings, and beyond. What I find exciting about the festival model is the potential for so much cultural enrichment - especially in merging performance with visual arts.
creative/artistic
I really enjoy having broad and ambitious creative visions, so would love to work specifically on designing/pioneering a creative vision for the wider festival, as an umbrella for all plays and events to work under and within.
This would manifest first through my solo producing event, which I am currently organising for January. This would be a ‘Public Studio: on effective collaboration’ or a ‘Public Studio: on building a creative vision’.
Either title would seek to engage in democratic discussion, analysis, and decision-making - through methods of curated, formulated conversation and creative output.
As a wider creative/artistic role - I would love to work at an overall managerial level, to oversee festival visioning and ensure branding is cohesive, themes of each play and event are fitting to our collective vision, and the festival has a united and rich feel for creatives, participants, and audiences. I have an eye for design, and seek cohesion and effective branding in both design and programming.
relationships + Partnerships
As a producer, I am very interested in creating and maintaining relationships with not only our in-house creative team, but establishing partnerships beyond Mountview.
In terms of sponsorship and funding, we could partner with local businesses for specific plays and events, or as whole-festival collaborators.
I would also like to be involved in external collaboration with community groups and theatre-makers in Peckham/Southwark, to ensure our festival is catering towards those around us, those who came before us, and those who will follow us.
journalism
I would love to produce a physical + digital means of documenting the festival. A space for articles, photographs, information about partnerships, commentary on the industry, and more.
Programme design is specific and integral to theatre, so I want to interrogate how we as creative practitioners can demonstrate wider talents through journalism.
I would aim to have both a digital space, and print copies available throughout the festival.
In terms of the culture of review, the online sphere could also have opportunities for submissions post-festival -> asking for critical analysis on individual plays.
